Description
The Board of Selectmen is established under the Wilbraham By-Laws to serve as the Board of Health and serves as the local Public Health Authority. Public Health is the science and practice of protecting and improving the health of a community, through preventive medicine, health education, control of communicable diseases, application of sanitary measures, and monitoring of environmental hazards. This includes a wide range of functions and areas, ranging from septic system issues, to influenza vaccinations, to rabid animals, to environmental contaminants. These functions are carried out by various departments and individuals:
