Board of Assessors Post New Property Values for FY2010
The Wilbraham Board of Assessors has developed new values for all real and taxable personal property based on a study of 2008 real estate sales and recent data inspections of residential, commercial and industrial properties.  Changes have been made, particularly in land values and in the depreciation schedules used to generate building values, to reflect the current market.

According to Chairman Richard Howell, preliminary certification of the proposed values has been received from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR).  A list of the proposed property values (as of January 1, 2009) is available in the Wilbraham Library, the Town Hall lobby and in the Assessors’ Office.  The review period will be September 28 – October 14, 2009.  All comments and questions concerning the property should be directed to the Assessors’ Office.

Property value cards may be reviewed in the Assessors’ Office.  Any errors noted in the descriptive details of a property brought to the attention of the Assessors will be corrected before the proposed valuations are finalized.  Howell noted that “The law provides taxpayers that are aggrieved with the finalized and certified valuation the right to file for an abatement. These must be filed after the actual tax bills are mailed in December, but no later than February 1, 2010.”
