Subject: Homicide Investigation, May 7, 2009, 8:20 PM
At 8:20 PM Thursday May 7, 2009 Wilbraham Police responded to the Woodcrest Condominiums at 2205 Boston Rd for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, Wilbraham Police Officers found a male inside one of the residential units suffering from two gunshot wounds. Officers secured the scene and provided medical care. Wilbraham Fire Dept EMS arrived and transported the victim to BayState Medical Center for treatment.
Massachusetts State Police CPAC is assisting the Wilbraham Police with the investigation.
The details of the shooting are under investigation and will be made available once the investigation is completed.
The identity of the victim is still being determined and will not be released until family members are located and notified.

The investigation is being conducted by Officer Shawn Baldwin, Officer Mathew Markiewicz and Sergeant Glen Clark of the Wilbraham Police Department with the Massachusetts State Police CPAC Unit assigned to the Office of District Attorney William M. Bennett.
A resident of 2205 Boston Road Section C reported that he was in his residence and responded to the sound of someone attempting to enter the front door of his residence. Upon opening the door the resident did not recognize the subject who entered without permission and refused to leave. The resident reported that he armed himself as he retreated through several rooms. The intruder was reported to have continued to advance upon the resident which resulted in the resident discharging the firearm.
Responding officers found the intruder to be unconscious with two gunshot wounds. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center by Wilbraham Fire Department Ambulance where he was later pronounced deceased.
The subject was identified as:
David P Gatti, age 29 of 2205 Boston Road C25
Wilbraham, Ma. 01095
The home was occupied by the two residents. As the event was occurring it did not involve or attract the attention of any other residents.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Hampden County CPAC Unit and the Office of District Attorney William M. Bennett.
