All kindergarten and first grade students in Wilbraham attend Mile Tree School. The school was built in 1963 and was the smallest building in the district until a $4.5 million renovation/addition was completed in June 2000 which added 12 classrooms and created space for full-day kindergarten. Currently, there are a total of 18 classrooms one of which is the integrated preschool program.

Mile Tree School has a multi-purpose room that serves as a cafeteria, auditorium, and gymnasium, and a combination art and music room. The school’s library includes a five-station computer lab.

Mile Tree School has a full-time nurse, a science specialist and a uniquely early childhood environment. The school has two reading recovery teachers. Students who have been identified as at-risk readers are given either individual reading instruction with a trained reading recovery teacher for 30 minutes each day, or are given support in a literacy group. Technology is an integral part of the school program; every classroom has computers for staff and student use.

Mile Tree School has a dedicated PTO. Parents work with the administration and staff to provide the school with school spirit events, assemblies and curriculum enhanced-educational programs.
