On June 6 at 5:30 p.m. Officer Sean Casella was traveling on Boston Road and did a record check on the vehicle plate in front of him. The registered owner of the Mercury had an expired license and an out of state warrant for his arrest. The vehicle was stopped. Further investigation revealed that in fact the driver was the registered owner and was unlicensed but his warrant was not extraditable- (the originating jurisdiction would not come this far to get him for a minor offense) During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to the tow, Officer Casella found heroin and paraphernalia related to it. Officer Casella is very well versed in drug and alcohol impairment as he is one of the limited numbers of officers in the state who are Drug Recognition Experts. Guy Montone 29, of Ware was arrested for Unlicensed Operation and Possession of Heroin (2nd offense).
On June 8 at 3:42 p.m. Officer James Gagner responded to the East Longmeadow Road area for the report of an erratic operator. The silver Pontiac Grand Am was found and stopped on Stony Hill Road. The operator, John Ryan 49 of Springfield was arrested by Officer Gagner for OUI Liquor (2nd offense) and Negligent Operation. He was also cited for a Marked Lanes violation.
On June 11 at 12:14 a.m. Officer David Diogo stopped a motor vehicle because its operator was having a hard time keeping it in its lane. The driver, 18 year old Anthony Monteiro, was charged with being a minor transporting alcohol. One of the passengers, 18 year old Joe Trezza was charged with being a minor and possessing alcohol.
On June 11 at 1:08 a.m. Officer David Diogo stopped a motorcycle for a speed violation. The operator, Enrique Tyson 27, of Springfield had a warrant and was arrested for same.
On June 11 at 2:31 a.m. Officer David Diogo stopped a Chevy Malibu on Springfield St. due to a marked lanes violation. The driver showed signs of impairment .Further investigation gave Officer Diogo probable cause to arrest Tyrone Goodman 51, of Springfield for OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation and Operating on a Revoked License (6th offense). He was also cited for other traffic violations. The passenger, Deja Waldon 23, of Springfield was also arrested for having two arrest warrants.
On June 12 at 9:35 p.m. the Wilbraham Police Department received a call for an erratic operator on Main St. Officer James Gagner found the vehicle, observed the marked lanes violations and pulled in behind the vehicle which had pulled off onto the parking area for Bruuer Pond. The operator exited her vehicle and showed signs of impairment. She then failed field sobriety tests. Molly Ketschek 32, of Wilbraham was arrested by Officer Gagner for OUI Liquor and Negligent Operation. She was also cited for two other motor vehicle infractions.
On June 13 at 4:37 p.m. Officer Joseph Brewer was conducting a well being check on an individual on Hunting Lane. During the course of the investigation a record check of one of the witnesses was done and Kimberly Smith 33, of Wilbraham had a Shoplifting Warrant out of Springfield and was arrested by Brewer for same.
On June 13 at 10:18 p.m. Officer James Gagner was on patrol on Boston Road and identified a man walking as Jayson Seveney 20, from Ware. Mr Seveney had a warrant for Disorderly Conduct from Springfield and was arrested by Gagner without incident.
On June 14 at 3:36 a.m. Officer David Diogo observed a vehicle dragging an object and also have illegal window tint while operating on Dumaine St. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be intoxicated. Josue Gonzalez 26, of Southbridge was arrested for OUI Liquor and Negligent Operation. He was also cited for three motor vehicle infractions.
On June 14 at 8:48 a.m. Sergeant Daniel Carr responded to Home Depot because their loss prevention officer had detained a shoplifter who attempted to steal tools. Otis Watson 55, of Springfield was arrested by Sergeant Carr for 2nd offense Shoplifting and for a default warrant from a previous shoplift in Chicopee.
On June 15 at 3:14 a.m. Officer Sean Casella stopped a red minivan that was failing to stay in its marked lane. Further investigation, including field sobriety tests were done resulting in Officer Casella having probable cause to arrest Scott Morgan, 51, of Enfield Connecticut for OUI Liquor and Negligent Operation.
On June 17 at 12:53 a.m. Officer Sean Casella noticed an equipment violation on a Chevy truck on Boston Road. The vehicle was stopped and the operator showed signs of impairment. Glenn Butterfield 50, of Wilbraham was arrested by Officer Casella for 3rd offense OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation and Operating on a Suspended License.
On June 18 at 12:49 a.m. Officer David Diogo was traveling on Boston Road and observed a speeding Chrysler van. The vehicle was stopped. The operator showed signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were done. Officer Diogo placed Sherrie Donovan 46, of Wilbraham, under arrest for OUI Liquor and Negligent Operation. She was issued a citation for the speed violation.
On June 19 at 1:15 a.m. Officer David Diogo was traveling on Boston Road and observed a vehicle operating very slowly in the breakdown lane. Lane violations continued. Officer Diogo stopped the vehicle and the operator showed signs of impairment. Alexander Berezkine 53, of Ludlow was arrested for OUI Liquor, Operating without a License and Negligent Operation. He was also cited for the Marked Lanes violations.
