UPDATE: Operator of MV Pursuit Identified
After a lengthy investigation by Sgt Shawn Baldwin, the operator of the motor vehicle has been identified. The operator was identified as ANGEL VILLANOEVA, 37, of Springfield. Mr Villanoeva will be charged with the following:
Defective Equipment
Unregistered MV
Uninsured MV
Attaching Plates
Driving to Endanger
Failing to stop for Police
Operating after Suspension (Subsq offense)
On 07/11/14 at approximately 0330 hrs, Sgt Baldwin and Ofc Diogo were monitoring traffic on Boston Rd in the vicinity of the Polish National Credit Union. At this time, Sgt Baldwin observed a small blue Ford Ranger pass westbound. Sgt Baldwin pulled behind the vehicle and followed it to the vicinity of Stony Hill Rd and Sevryn St. Sgt Baldwin attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Dalton St when the vehicle refused to stop and entered Springfield. Sgt Baldwin and Ofc Diogo followed the vehicle through Indian Orchard and into Chicopee. The suspect vehicle entered the Delta Hills Conservation area where it smashed through a locked steel gate. The vehicle sustained major front end damage and drove into very thick brush. The suspect ran into the thick brush fleeing on foot. Officers gave chase and were unable to locate the suspect. Chicopee PD and a Mass State Police K9 assisted at the conclusion of the event. An investigation is ongoing to identify the operator.
