Some Recent Arrests

On July 31 at 4:00 pm. Detective Michael Cygan started an investigation into a larceny from an elderly woman. After looking at bank records and speaking to witnesses, Detective Cygan had probable cause to get an arrest warrant for Kimberly Smith 33, of Wilbraham. The charges were for Larceny over $250 from a 60 person, and numerous counts of Forgery and the Uttering of Checks.


On August 1 at 11:30 a.m. Detective Cygan received a call from Citizens Bank.  Kimberly Smith 33, of Wilbraham was inside the bank attempting to cash another check from the same elderly person who was victimized before. Kimberly Smith was arrested by Detective Cygan for Attempted Larceny, Forgery and Uttering a False Check.


On August 1 at 10:20 p.m. Officer David Diogo observed an operator of a vehicle in front of him throw a lit cigarette out the window. The operator of the Lincoln Town car had a hard time staying in its marked lane. Officer Diogo attempted to stop the vehicle on Mountain Road but the vehicle did not stop right away. The operator, Robert Smith 47, of Wilbraham, pulled into his residence and was arrested for OUI Liquor, Failure to Stop and Negligent Operation. He was also cited for minor motor vehicle violations.


On August 4 at 1:20 p.m. Officer Lawrence Rich responded to an animal clinic on Boston Road for an employee who stole drugs from the clinic.  Pat Tramontana 31, of Enfield was summoned to court for Larceny under $250 and Possession of Class E Drugs.


On August 6 at 2:32 a.m., Sergeant Edward Lennon stopped a suspicious vehicle driving very slowly on Boston Road. The operator showed signs of alcohol impairment. Kevin Bourgeois 19, of Ludlow was arrested for OUI Liquor and Negligent Operation.


On August 6 at 8:47 p.m. Officer Justin Wall stopped a vehicle on Boston Road for an equipment violation. Further investigation revealed that she had a revoked License and two outstanding arrest warrants. Rachel Rodrigues 38, of Springfield was arrested without incident.


On August 7 at 1:14 a.m. Officer Sean Casella stopped a motor vehicle on Stony Hill Road after the operator threw a lit cigarette out the window. Upon speaking to the operator Officer Casella could smell the odor of burnt marijuana. Field sobriety tests were done. Matthew Rushby 20, of Springfield was arrested for OUI Drugs, Negligent Operation and Throwing a Lit Cigarette on a Public Way.


On August 7 at 12:53 p.m. Officer Lawrence Rich observed a motor vehicle crash by the Wilbraham Monson Academy where the vehicle left the scene without stopping.  The operator, 83 year old Andrew Kwasnik Jr. of Somers, Ct. was summoned to court for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and a Marked Lanes violation.


On August 7 at 4:17 p.m. Officer James Gagner, Justin Wall and Sergeant Glen Clark responded to a vehicle crash on Boston Road involving a car fire. The one car had hit a pole.  The driver was pulled out of his car by witnesses. The operator showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed filed sobriety tests.  Mario Varzeas 22, of Wilbraham was arrested for OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation and a Marked Lanes Violation.
