On September 20, 2014 members of the Springfield Police Department will be joined by other members of numerous Law Enforcement Agencies and cycle  from Springfield to Boston in the Second Annual “SPD Ride to Remember.” This is a charity event organized to honor Fallen Officers Kevin Ambrose of Springfield and Jose Torres of Westfield, and also to collect money to be donated to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Boston, Massachusetts.

Officer Ambrose was tragically killed in the line of duty on June 4, 2012. To honor his 36 years of proud, dedicated service to the City of Springfield, Officer Ambrose was added to the Law Enforcement Memorial on September 21, 2013, outside of the State House in Boston, MA.

On July 27, 2012, Officer Torres was also tragically killed in the line of duty, after serving 27 years in the Westfield Police Department. Officer Torres was also added on Sept. 21st 2013 to the Law Enforcement Memorial.

On September 20th, at 7am, participating cyclists from numerous police departments and other public service entities will depart from downtown Springfield and ride just over 100 miles  ending at the State House in Boston. After arriving in Boston, a memorial service is being held honoring Officers Ambrose and Torres, and all other officers killed in the line of duty.

We are pleased to announce that Wilbraham Sgt Glen Clark will be participating for the second year in a row. Sgt Clark is accepting any and all donations which will benefit the care and upkeep of the Law Enforcement Memorial in Boston. Please make donations payable to "SPD Ride to Remember" C/O Sgt John Delaney Springfield Police Department 130 Pearl St Springfield MA 01105.
