The Wilbraham Police Department is committed to keeping children safe, and we recognize that motor vehicle crashes pose a tremendous risk for children.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 3 to 14 in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA). An average of five children aged 14 and younger were killed and 640 injured in motor vehicle crashes each day across the United States in 2005. Even a sudden stop can seriously injure a child who is not riding securely in the right type of child safety seat. On average, 7 out of 10 child passenger car seats that parents / grandparents have installed believe the child passenger seat is installed correctly; they are not.
Car Seat Inspections
The Wilbraham Police Department conducts child passenger car seat inspections. Our certified technician will thoroughly inspect the child passenger car seats for wear and effectiveness and show parents how to properly install the seat to assure the safest ride for your children. If you'd like to have your child passenger seat inspected, contact Sergeant Mark Paradis at (413) 596-3837.
